- GI position descriptions - Types of openings available
Inpatient Coverage
Monday through Friday this is a 7 am to 5 pm day and entails rounding on patients in the hospital, doing new consults from the hospital and ER. Performing emergent procedures including GI bleeding, food boluses, foreign bodies, abdominal pain, etc. We also add about 5-6 outpatient procedures to this rotation to fill out the day.
Saturday and Sunday: Rounds and procedures that need to be done urgently/emergently
This rotation is usually done with night call from 5 pm to 7 am and involves urgent/emergent consultation and procedures
Most practitioners do a week at a time covering 24/7 but if we have enough practitioners, we can break this up. Also, the locums need to be able to do conscious sedation.
Outpatient Scopes
Monday through Friday Endoscopy Lab either at UH or Fairview Endoscopy Lab Monday through Friday from 7 am to about 4 pm ( it is 7 to 4 at UH and 7 to 2:30 at Fairview)
This is procedures only with about 12-14 scopes per day. Mixed among egd and colonoscopy.
Advanced GI
Monday through Friday ½ day of clinic and 4 and ½ days of scoping and we would like them to potentially do general gi if available.
