Description
Coverage Needed
Schedule
- M-F- 8:30am-4:30p
- 10-12 shifts of call/month - either on the weekend or evening call and combination of both
- Weeknight Call: M-F | 4:30p - 8:30a | 1:2 Rotation
- 24hr Weekend Call | Rotation 1:3
- Preferably 1 provider but can alternate weeks with 2 if needed.
Clinical Details
- Outpatient with limited Inpatient - daily rounding for the nursery, when on call
- In-House Rounding: (all patients, both practices), usually 1-2 babies in nursery. Rarely have an inpatient, rounding on sick children
- General expectation is provider is seeing patients from 8:30a " 4:30p during office hours, downtime can be used for clerical work
- Two very busy hospital-owned established practice sites " one pediatric group
- Level I nursery | 230-250 births/year
- No NICU, instituted telemedicine for Neonatology on the floors with Childrens in Pitts.
- Higher level care PEDS transferred
- Minimum Workload is expected to be 350-400 per month (15-18 patients/day)
- Most FPs in the system do not see Peds - most coming to Pediatrics Group Express care (primary care walk-in) after hours and weekends, sees PEDS & adults (on hospital campus) " this helps the pediatric group and the on call physician
- OBs doing circumcisions
- Practice is 90% outpatient
- No APP/Mid-level coverage available
- Other specialties available onsite: Limited for peds specific - ENT, Ophthalmology, dental, behavioral health, OBGYN, gen surg, wound, gastro
Requirements
- Active PA license
- DEA (will accept candidates needing to apply for a state DEA or transfer DEA from another state)
- Board certified/eligible
- PALS, ACLS, BLS, NRP
Call
- Can split time between two sites
- Schedule can be discussed and may change from time to time.
- Weekend Call: Mostly by phone (not often coming in at night); Expect to have to go in to ER or nursery once a week for an emergency or admission, but it might not happen (or rarely could happen more often); Generally, round in hospital in AM, and then go to clinic; On call Pediatrician must admit patients both day and night (hospitalists admit ages18+); Cant take call remotely - must be onsite to respond to ED or emergent c-sections within 30 mins
